18 Abr Unmanned Life: Unleashing the potential of 5G and Edge Computing. Deutsche Telekom Program.
Deutsche Telekom ‘Hubraum 5G Prototyping’ initiative has started this week in Berlin and Unmanned Life is particularly honoured to be part of this program, alongside the most innovative start-ups in Europe, to unleash the potential of the 5G network.
5G is the next generation of communication networks designed to serve a Smart Digital Society. By delivering extreme broadband, ultra-robust low latency connectivity and massive Internet of Things networking, 5G will transform our lives, our businesses and our society. Working intensively with industry partners such as Unmanned Life, Deutsche Telekom is at the forefront of the development of the 5G standard that will redefine connectivity.
In other words, the ‘Hubraum 5G Prototyping’ is an initiative seeking pioneers such as Unmanned Life, interested in developing ideas and applications based on future 5G technology and infrastructure provided by Deutsche Telekom in Europe. By participating in this program, Unmanned Life will be a key partner with access to future 5G technology and infrastructure provided by DT. Also, Unmanned Life will be able to develop prototypes that clarify potential 5G use cases for future commercial applications, whilst getting expert support in many areas to eventually receive potential investment from hubraum of up to 300 000€ to develop a pilot project with them.
On the other hand, Unmanned Life is offering its extensive set of skills and knowledge in fields Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things and Edge computing which are key resources for the development of 5G applications. What’s even more relevant for Unmanned Life, is the fact that 5G network is a critical enabler for its vision to become an ‘AI on the Edge’ software platform. In fact, 5G, AI and Edge computing are said to be the technologies of tomorrow, but how Unmanned Life’s software platform is an ‘AI on the Edge’ platform that connects those technologies into one entity, by offering use cases in areas such as Supply Chain and Telecom that will surely enable the so-called Industry 4.0.
To fully understand the role of Unmanned Life’s platform in linking those technologies to enable Industry 4.0, we need to understand the concept of 5G and AI on the Edge. The evolutionary improvements in the 5G network set the stage for revolutionary application development and new, innovation-driven markets. That’s where AI is entering the picture and converging with 5G—specifically at the ‘Edge’. 5G will not only be the protocol that launches a thousand new high-throughput applications and use cases like autonomous vehicles, but it will also drive important new low-bandwidth applications. In other words, 5G’s newly opened frequencies along with AI on the Edge enables new opportunities for innovation up and down the spectrum.
The presence of robotics systems is increasingly starting to appear in many areas of our everyday lives. There are no doubts that in a not so distant future, there will be robots everywhere, either in our work or private environments (i.e. Offices, industries and home). The emergence of strong and reliable 5G networks, along with EDGE computing results in hyper-connectivity environments, referred as a state of unified communications in which the traffic-handling capacity and bandwidth of a network always exceed the demand. This hyper-connectivity accompanied by the improvements of EDGE and the emergence of new robotic systems will certainly create a future that will be increasingly autonomous.
In order to transform this vision into reality, the networks creating hyper-connectivity and the robot makers creating devices that can function autonomously will require software that creates the hyperintelligence to connect them under one context. This AI-driven software connecting 5G network, EDGE computing and robotic systems creates an intelligent presence that permits fully autonomous use cases that will certainly be safe, reliable and most importantly efficient. This is what Unmanned Life offers, an AI-driven software that links all of those technologies into one platform, enabling multiple use cases in Supply Chain & Logistics and Telecom, resulting in the so-called Industry 4.0.
