14 Jan City of Vienna, Unmanned Life and Magenta Telekom Life join forces to deliver the world´s first 5G Safe City with Autonomy-as-a-Service.
The City of Vienna has selected Unmanned Life to build the World’s First 5G enabled Autonomous Fire and Emergency Response Service starting the first quarter of 2020. This is another major breakthrough for Unmanned Life and a strong start of 2020 with major new partners to deliver the Smart Cities and 5G-enabled solutions that will bring concrete benefit to citizens. Vienna has been ranked the most liveable city in the world for the 10th year in a row. The Austrian capital topped the new Mercer Quality of Living Survey.
The City of Vienna launched the 5G Vienna Use Case Challenge with the goal of finding companies that offer 5G-ready solutions in the areas of mobility, public spaces/security, healthcare, and education. Unmanned Life, thanks to its strong partnership with Deutsche Telekom, was invited to bid together with their wholly-owned subsidiary, Magenta Telekom, the second largest Telco in Austria.
In partnership with Magenta, Unmanned Life proposed its Autonomous Emergency Response over 5G solution which aims to assist fire departments during emergency scenarios by deploying a swarm of autonomous UAVs powered by Unmanned Life’s 5G Standardized Autonomy-as-a-Service Platform. The objective of this 6-month contract is to deploy Unmanned Life’s Autonomy-as-a-Service solution leveraging Magenta Telekom’s 5G network, followed by full commercial roll-out for all of Vienna’s 34 fire departments.
“This a major step forward for Unmanned Life and very proud to see our partnership with Deutsche Telekom materializing in concrete 5G-enabled solutions that will bring benefit to citizens, saving lives and ensuring safety to Vienna residents. This is the validation of Unmanned Life´s strategy to partnering with the leading global Telcos and delivering together joint solutions to the market. ” said Kumardev Chatterjee, CEO and Founder of Unmanned Life.
This ground-breaking deployment, yet another feather in Unmanned Life’s set of World First achievements, is a clear validation of Unmanned Life’s technical and business capabilities to deliver autonomous commercially deployed public safety and emergency response solutions.
“Mobile Internet is becoming more and more important. We in Vienna want the new, future-oriented 5G technology to be used to benefit people directly. As the City Councillor for Digital Innovation AND the Fire Department, I am particularly pleased that Unmanned is among the winners with their project using drones to assess the situation of fighting major fires.” said Peter Hanke, Vienna´s City Councilor.
“5G makes a significant contribution to security in public spaces. In cooperation with Unmanned Life, we are realizing a project via Magenta´s 5G network which unlocks completely new possibilities for daily life in the city of Vienna.” commented Magenta.
This deployment will lead the near-term opportunities for Unmanned Life to deploy similar solutions currently been discussed in Dubai, Singapore and South Korea, enabling a significant first-mover advantage in the Public Safety, Incident and Emergency global marketplace, which is expected to reach US$130 billion by 2024
