We collaborate with TELUS to test drone capabilities over 5G network

November 4, 2021 – Unmanned Life, in collaboration with TELUS, demonstrated its Autonomous Drone Computer Vision and Surveillance application at the launch event of Hub350 on October 28, part of the 5G Innovation Zone at the Kanata North Technology Park in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. The demonstration showcased Unmanned Life’s key capabilities including AI on edge, live drone video streaming on a central interface, person and object detection, and how these innovative solutions can be deployed over 4G, 5G and WI-FI using our network interoperability approach.

TELUS, Canada’s fastest mobile network operator, has developed four 5G innovation hubs to-date, promoting the development of solutions that tackle real-world challenges with like-minded partners.

TELUS is proud to support companies like Unmanned Life who are innovating and committing to solving real-world problems and getting them to market,” said Samer Geissah, Director Technology Strategy at TELUS. “5G is going to drive technology innovation at a pace we haven’t seen in Canada for a long time and we’re proud that TELUS 5G is the network of choice to develop these next-generation products and services.”

Unmanned Life showcased its Autonomous Drone Surveillance solution, using two drones equipped with video cameras and live streamed video over TELUS’ network. Unique to Unmanned Life’s software platform, which enables and controls computer vision capabilities, acting like one intelligent central brain. The demonstration showed how this video feed was analysed by Unmanned Life’s computer vision algorithms to detect trespassing in an area, relaying information back to the control centre where an operator can determine the action to be taken.

Our autonomous drone swarm-enabled surveillance application is an effective tool for first responders, safety and security services. It enables a number of key benefits for a variety of use cases within the safety and security space, such as:

  1. Reduction of injuries, bodily harm or fatalities in the line of duty of safety and security personnel through remote monitoring
  2. Deter and prevent safety and security incidents, theft or crime through increased surveillance with increased efficiency and frequency
  3. Reduce Time and Cost associated with Incident Assessment and Response
  4. Increase successful outcomes through efficient support into the Incident Assessment and Response processes.

“For Unmanned Life, this represents an entry point for the company into the Canadian market in partnership with TELUS. It is the very first of several deployments and strategic product developments that the Company is aiming to deliver in Canada.”  Nicholas Zylberglajt, CEO of Unmanned Life
